Schools minister praises primary for SATs results

Pupils and staff from a city school have been singled out for national praise for achieving top results in their SATs.

Holden Lane Primary, in Sneyd Green, has received a letter from schools minister Nick Gibb, congratulating the school on its success.

Every single pupil who completed Year 6 last summer gained ‘level 4B’ in reading, writing and maths.

This level shows pupils are comfortably working at the standard expected of a typical 11-year-old.

In his letter to Holden Lane Primary, Mr. Gibb said: “This makes you one of only 187 schools in the country to achieve this level of attainment.

“You are also among the 100 top-performing schools in the progress your pupils make.”

He added: “thank you for producing such high standards and congratultions.”
