I have been a member of the Governing Body of Haywood Academy and its previous formats for 15 years and for the last 5 years I have been the Chair. I work for HM Revenue and Customs and use the skills I have developed in my role there to help me with my duties as a Governor in particular my knowledge of process improvement and administration.
I believe that schools must be outward facing and the Governors should be actively involved in setting the strategic goals that will enable the continuous improvement of education across the City Learning Trust from the age of 3 to 19.
The future of our local community can only be enhanced by improving local education and to do this the City Learning Trust has to work closely with all its stakeholders. There is no room for complacency or political dogma in relation to moving forward education for our students and we, ourselves, need to learn from all our partners, whether they are local businesses, trade unions, parents or members of the local community on what must be our goal to achieve educational excellence for the City Learning Trust.
